Health Care Reform Panel

The United State’s health care is the most expensive in the world, with nearly double the per capita cost and the highest percentage of the national GDP. It is currently ranked 37th globally, between Costa Rica and Slovenia.

Dr. Richard Quint will be speaking on Thursday, March 22 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in 10 Evans. He is Professor Emeritus of pediatrics at UCSF, a member of the California Physician’s Alliance, and currently an instructor at the UCSF/UCB Joint Medical Program. This panel will discuss single payer health care, Governor Schwarzenegger’s proposal, and our other options. It will be sponsored by Cal Dems, the Cal Greens, and the Suitcase Clinic. Berkeley Project Results

Thank you all for devoting your Saturday to volunteer with Berkeley Project. You were all absolutely amazing and we had a great time working with you. Thanks to your efforts, our community received some important services that it never would’ve gotten otherwise, so please know that your efforts were well spent. It’s times like these when we get to get the Suitcase crew together to do some team bonding and just have fun. Thanks again!

Mental Health Meeting

We will be hosting a mental health meeting tomorrow, Friday, at 4:00 PM in the Gelateria Naia Lounge. This will be a great opportunity to provide input and to help guide where the program will be going. We will be making goals, brainstorming ideas and making some objectives and mission statements. We will also talk about our alliances and how we can provide more efficient services. It would be great to have many different ideas present.
