Changes are on the horizon for People’s Park.
On Sunday the stage was repainted and a new free box was built. The police removed it before it was even used as a free box, while it was still being painted. On Wednesday, someone had painted over parts of the stage that said “Democratize the UC Regents”, “Free Box”, “Food not Bombs”. People’s Park is UC land and so if it was the University, they have the right to, but it goes against the spirit of the park and the freedom of speech.
