Last year, BFHP launched its first annual Homeless Connect Health Fair event that brought together eight local agencies and dozens of volunteers to provide an array of healthcare services to our homeless clients. Suitcase Clinic will be providing footwashing, massages, hair cuts, and free winter clothing. Clients will also able to access addiction services, mental health services, referrals for women’s health screenings, child and family services, and vision screenings.
Last year’s inaugural Homeless Connect Health Fair brought together eight local agencies, dozens of volunteers, and served about 150 clients. This year BFHP and their health and wellness partners will build on that success.
For some clients, this event is his or her only interaction with health services all year. The fair is an opportunity for local health and wellness agencies to engage with clients who may not traditionally seek out these services. By bringing local agencies together, clients not only get their immediate needs met, but also learn about available services and connect with providers to receive ongoing care. This is the only event of its kind in Berkeley, CA.
