Small Group
There are 13 people in the small group. This week they are going to talk about putting an agenda together. There will be a half-hours worth of agenda next week. SPEAC members will come to SHARE once in September and twice in October.
Conducting a needs assessment is a possibility for the General clinic. Organizing a film Screening is very doable.
The small group can put on dinners and also can clean-up showers in Willard through the Berkeley Project.
SHARE requires not just one visit but rather a full education campaign.
The dyad will cover ideas for the group project. There will also be an awareness talk.
The Berkeley project (bp.berkeley.edu) may be able to provide funding for SPEAC/SHARE.
SPEAC/SHARE should petition ExComm for allocating funds to SPEAC/SHARE projects.
Goals
Semester – Get funding for SPEAC and SHARE. Election at the end of the semester for one or two SPEAC facilitators (rather than coordinators). This would be a semester-long position.
Another goal is to reconnect on the library project.
ANDREW WILL TALK TO MARY ELLEN ABOUT GETTING COMPUTER SPACE AT FIRST PRESBYTERIAN for the computer project, and will also talk TO THE DC ABOUT ROLLING OVER MEAL POINTS, and for students being able to allocate their meal points into a Suitcase Clinic account.
Funding can come from Whole Foods. Shahid Syed’s group “Feed the Homeless” has an unfortunate name, but could nevertheless be a good resource to continue working with.
The Psych Project would be worth looking closer into, as they have offered counseling services.
The next SPEAC meeting will be from 11-12 on 9/20 at FSM.
