• Io: will be organizing teach-ins; wants to know if SC is interested in being a part of it, and if anyone wants to work with him to coordinate a speaker, etc. contact him at io_porges@berkeley.edu
• Dan: signboard on bridge is not durable/waterproof; contact him if anyone wants to work on it; contact him at danieljgreen@berkeley.edu
• Sheila: Health San Franciscco (like a Medicaid for San Francisco residents) is one available service she just heard about; Glide also had a lot of services, if you want more information, let her know
• Courtney: Sept. 25th is SC’s anniversary of origin- party?
• Tanvir: client was wondering if he could get over-the-counter medicine from health ed if he signed a waiver; answer: med provides those, health ed can’t; for machines like blood pressure, etc., it can be put in the budget, or ask for a grant
• Juggy: counseling services started; the Wright Institute will be sending a person to Monday Women’s Clinic, and Tuesday General Clinic; give any budget requests to coordinators for ex-comm tomorrow
Past Actions
• Social: transportation/ideas haven’t been resolved; sheets will be passed around in class to figure things out
• Cards: Courtney brought them to General Clinic, so they can be passed out
• Google groups: in the next few days, Andrew will send out lists of what groups he has made, how they work, etc.
• Youth/CARE: Sheila gave info sheets to the Youth Coordinator, so the small group now has the information
• Health Ed/Touro: still getting in contact with Touro; supplies coming in
• Women’s Clinic collaboration: woman will be coming in for services for kids under 19
• Clinic/SHARE: email Austin with names of class students who show up
Clinic Updates
• Women’s: Clinic went really well; the Movement dance group came in and gave dance lessons; massage table broke (need to get one from General Clinic); might be able to start clinic earlier if services comply
• Youth: clinic went well; a lot of people showed up; a lot of services were provided; project for Monday- closet used for Clinic will be cleaned out; Joey from Children’s Hospital came; Eva went to the Berkeley City Council meeting, where there was talk of a focus group, so she was put in touch with SPEAC and SHARE; need to get sleeping bags/blankets through supply drive
• General: went really well, more clients than ever, Mental Health came and served a client (will see how it goes in the future); dinner served next week; decided on 4 questions for caseworkers to ask clients; one answer given was more diversity of dinners; supply drive- volunteers need to take note of what is needed; belligerent woman wanted a sleeping bag and got in a fight but was deescalated; picked up more dentists- for the 2nd/4th Tuesdays- first come, first serve for new clients
• Teresa: art sessions for the children at Women’s Clinic; need funding for projects; funding for things like aromatherapy/oils, etc. – can go to art supply stores, etc.
Discussion- Juggy wants to know what people are looking to get out of PC- announcements, speakers, etc.; Courtney thinks we should have a plan of action for any plans made
Ideas for PC
• Take action on people who aren’t attending PC
• Current events (constant agenda item)
• Snacks? Food: Courtney will bring a list
• Bi-monthly PC: should be decided with each new PC group
• Retreat as a get-away
• Action groups- communicate in a productive way
• Need to have a list of all supplies/services offered by each clinic
• Communicate electronically more often
• Have PC list password protected- individual decisions for releasing information, email out
• Clinic coordinators should make a list of all officers and their roles
